About Sloan Roberts
Sloan Roberts began long before the brand itself. The name was coined in 2005 — formed by combining our middle names, Sloan and Robert. It was never just a name, but an idea: two perspectives coming together to create something considered. That idea continues to shape how we work today.
Founded by David Sloan Kruse and Nigel Robert Brown, Sloan Roberts brings together complementary disciplines shaped over decades of experience. David has spent more than 16 years as a multi-award-winning product designer in homewares and lighting, while Nigel brings over 20 years of experience across construction, project delivery, and making. Different backgrounds, but a shared sensibility grounded in material, proportion, and the process of creating.
At its core, Sloan Roberts is driven by a belief that good design comes from balance — where contrast meets restraint, precision is tempered by warmth, and material is considered alongside detail. These are not opposing ideas, but complementary forces that, when resolved together, define the outcome.
We create premium, modular hardware defined by material integrity and thoughtful composition. Each element is designed with intent, forming a system that allows for personal expression without losing coherence. Whether a selection leans toward calm continuity or a more defined contrast, the result is always deliberate — shaped by choice, but guided by structure.
Designed in Melbourne, our approach is architectural rather than decorative. We consider proportion, tactility, and the way materials meet, understanding that the smallest decisions often carry the greatest weight. The button detail, the finish, the subtle shift between contrast and tone — these are not afterthoughts, but the point at which design becomes expression.
Sloan Roberts is a framework for considered design — objects that feel resolved, purposeful, and personal, shaped by the details you choose.
