Every Sloan Roberts piece begins with a design decision.
A proportion. A material. A detail. A relationship between one finish and another.
From there, the process becomes more tactile. Materials are selected, components are prepared, finishes are reviewed, and each piece is assembled with care. Sloan Roberts cabinet hardware is designed and assembled in Melbourne, Australia — allowing each composition to be made with a level of attention that reflects its purpose.
These are small objects, handled every day. That matters.
A local approach to making
Each piece is assembled after an order is placed, bringing together the chosen material, size and button detail. This made-to-order rhythm supports the modular nature of the Ensemble collection, where every handle, knob or hook is composed from a defined set of options.
It also allows for closer quality control. Hardware needs to feel resolved in the hand. The proportions need to be right. The connection between components needs to feel intentional. The finish needs to suit the material, not fight against it.
Across the bench: lengths of American White Oak waiting to be paired with a brushed copper button. A Verde Alpi marble pull arriving at its final tone with an aged bronze detail. A 224mm brushed steel bar laid out for inspection before it leaves the studio. Each combination is checked, finished and packed by hand.
Materials with their own character
The Ensemble collection brings together three materials — each chosen for its ability to shape the feeling of a space.
Marble brings natural movement and variation. No two pieces are exactly alike, which gives each handle or knob its own depth, veining and character. Rather than hiding this variation, Sloan Roberts treats it as part of the material's value.
Timber introduces warmth, tactility and grain. American White Oak is processed in-house, allowing the grain, tone and finish to be carefully managed — refining the wood's natural character without erasing it.
Metal brings precision, clarity and durability. The metal components are CNC-machined to our specifications in partner facilities overseas, then finished and assembled in Melbourne — bringing the same level of control to the final piece while drawing on specialist machining capability.
Each material requires its own process, tolerance and way of being handled.
The button detail
The button detail used across Ensemble is CNC-machined from solid aluminium.
It is a small component, but it plays an important role — both connector and visual signature. Across metal, timber and marble, the button creates a consistent design language while allowing each composition to shift in tone. It is both practical and expressive.
Materials, handled
Sloan Roberts does not approach hardware as a disposable finishing touch. The collection is designed with longevity in mind: clear forms, refined proportions and material relationships intended to remain relevant over time, not chase a trend.
Sloan Roberts also uses recyclable, plastic-free packaging — bringing the same care to the way the product arrives.
The handles ship now. The Ensemble hook collection joins the system in November 2026. Each piece is designed and assembled in Melbourne, Australia — small objects, made with the attention they're asked to carry.
Materials, handled.
